Program Description:

Poverty and a very low standard of living sadly result in cases where children are left orphaned and uncared-for, often finding their way on to the streets. Some manage to be placed in orphanages. These, however, are poorly resourced. 

Volunteers will assist with a range of tasks, from helping with the cooking, washing of dishes, laundry and basic building maintenance, to organizing and running educational and recreational activities for the children (games, arts and crafts, music etc.).

Volunteers on an orphanage placement will also assist with teaching, not only English but also subjects in which they have an interest or skill. As this program involves working closely with orphaned and at risk children a three week minimum commitment is required to participate.

Language: Volunteers should have a good grasp of the English language.  Some knowledge of the local dialect is also beneficial but is not a pre-requisite.

Setting Description:

Volunteers in Pokhara have the opportunity to be immersed in the local culture by being hosted by a trusted local family. This is a fantastic way to experience this diverse country in a way that is not available to the average tourist. The host family takes pride in showcasing their traditional cooking and will provide breakfast and dinner daily. What better way to experience this amazing country!

Cost:
