Program Overview

Program Description:

Volunteers are required in many parts of China to work with school children of all ages, ranging from 7 to 19. Much of the emphasis for volunteers in China is on confidence-boosting, particularly in conversational skills and pronunciation. By adopting a blend of strategies, from teaching current affairs topics to playing games and working from the standard textbook, volunteer teachers can hugely enrich the language-learning which their Chinese pupils gain. 

Volunteers can choose from three locations, and whether in Shanghai, in Jiangsu Province, in one of several schools in historic Zhengzhou, or teaching in Sichuan Province. Volunteers can expect to teach between 10 and 15 forty-minute lessons per week, Monday to Friday. 

Volunteer duties may include arranging educational and recreational activities, teaching English at different levels, helping the staff at the center to design the curriculum. Volunteers can also get involved behind the scenes, designing the center’s website, updating the information and writing reports and articles for it.

Language: All volunteers must have a good command of the English language. Some understanding of the local dialect would also be beneficial but is not a pre-requisite.

Setting Description:

Depending on program location, volunteers will either be accommodated in one of our comfortable volunteer houses, or onsite at the school where they are volunteering. Free time can be used to explore this huge and fascinating country!

Cost:

LV Registration Fee + Programs Fees from just $645 for 4 weeks! USD. Included: Accommodation, 2 -3 Meals per day, Airport Pickup, Orientation on Arrival and 24/7 In-Country Support. Not Included: Flights, Insurance, VISA, Vaccinations, In-Country Transport, and Spending Money.
