Program Overview

Program Description:

This program involves coaching young people at primary school level. Volunteers can assist in coaching sports and teaching children various skills such as fitness training. In some instances sports coaching involves teaching children about healthy lifestyle awareness and team building. As physical education has only recently been introduced in the schooling system most schools have very limited equipment.

Volunteers need to be flexible and use their initiative and imagination on this program. As with many things in developing countries some projects are very well structured and well managed while others lack infrastructure and resources.

Volunteers will have 1-3 periods of sports education per day, and outside of this will assist teaching in the classroom. This can of course vary depending on the activities planned for the day, and the volunteer’s creativity and initiative to conduct their own physical education lessons with the children.

Setting Description:

Volunteers on this program can choose to be accommodated either at one of the shared volunteer house, located in central Cape Town, or with a local host family. At the Volunteer House, Breakfast and Dinner are provided Monday to Friday, while at the home-stay, 3 home cooked meals are provided each day. Free time can be used to explore this amazing country!

Cost:

LV Registration Fee + Programs Fees from just $390 for two weeks! USD. Included: Accommodation, 2 Meals per day, Airport Pick-up, Orientation on Arrival and 24/7 In-Country Support. Not Included: Flights, Insurance, VISA, Vaccinations, Return Airport Transfer, In-Country Transport, and Spending Money.
