Setting Description:

Colonized by various European countries, Ghana was long a world center in the trade of gold, ivory and sadly, slaves. But in 1957 Ghana gained its independence from the U.K. and has since become one of the least-conflicted countries in Africa. Although Ghana has progressed rapidly in recent years, there is still a deep economic divide between the wealthy and poor and a huge need for volunteers. Among other issues, poorly constructed roads make it difficult for many Ghanaian's to access health care and drinkable water. Love Volunteers in Ghana work alongside communities to help improve access to basic social services, with the aim of closing the gap between the rich and the poor.
