Program Overview

Program Description:

Liberty’s 100% online Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Special Education is one of only a few undergraduate programs that leads to licensure as a special education teacher and is fully online. You can go directly into the classroom after your first degree with this unique opportunity for teacher preparation.

Liberty’s School of Education is accredited by NCATE through CAEP, demonstrating further support for the excellence you’ll find as you earn your Virginia teacher’s license though Liberty’s Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Special Education*.

As a B.Ed. in Special Education student, you will study the learning theory, resources, and best practices to help you become an effective special education teacher. You’ll learn how to asses and adapt to the needs of special needs students while providing a safe and inclusive learning environment. You will also learn how to identify needs early and apply cutting-edge learning strategies to help children grow.

Liberty’s B.Ed’s practicum and student teaching will give you hands-on experience in a school near you so you can learn how to apply your studies to a real-world classroom. The program allows you to complete licensure requirements for special education without the need to travel to a university campus.

Making a traditional on-campus teaching licensure program work for your schedule can be difficult, so Liberty’s 100% online program is a great option. As a B.Ed. in Special Education graduate, you will have the credentials to pursue a career as a licensed special education teacher, special education consultant, special education ministry worker, or special education curriculum coordinator.

*If you are planning to pursue teaching in a state other than Virginia, please confirm that Virginia requirements will meet reciprocity standards in your desired state.
