Therefore, ICT departments have traditionally reported to finance departments, and the value of computing was mainly operational; it was never considered to be of strategic value. However, as the years have gone by, information technology has become more and more critical to companies all over the globe - by providing a new way to stay in touch with both customers and suppliers, for example. ICT has become a vital part of the competitive strategies of many companies. This altered situation does not only require a new perspective on the application of ICT, it also places different demands on managers.
