Program Description:

In the specialisation in Dutch Studies you will explore the language and culture of the Netherlands from the Golden Age – the time of Rembrandt and Vondel – up to the dynamic, multicultural society of the present day. The programme focuses specially on students for whom Dutch is not their native language. Leiden is the only university to offer such an extensive Dutch-language curriculum for international students. Als je kiest voor de specialisatie Nederlandkunde, ben je bezig met meer dan de taal alleen. Je verdiept je in de geschiedenis en kunstgeschiedenis van de Lage Landen, de Nederlandse literatuur en de Nederlandse taalkunde. Na afronding van deze specialisatie binnen de master Neerlandistiek ben je in staat de Nederlandse cultuur en samenleving te doorgronden.
