The Spain I Program will last five weeks. Students will attend classes five days a week. Group excursions on chartered buses are scheduled from both cities to such places as Madrid, Toledo, Salamanca and Avila. A four-day free weekend will be set aside for travel to more distant parts of Spain. Spain I program must have at least 12 hours and no more than 21 hours of college-level Spanish or the equivalent at time of departure.
In Segovia, students may explore the city's Roman and medieval past and venture into the surrounding areas of Old Castile. Credit will be awarded by Western Kentucky University and will be transferred to each student's institution.
- Setting Description:
- Segovia is a charming, provincial capital in the foothills of the Guadarrama mountains, only 60 miles to the north of Madrid. Its location makes it ideal for excursions, and the pleasantly warm, dry, summer weather and the congeniality of the Spanish people lend a spirit of cordial hospitality.
