Program Description:

The Salzburg, Austria Program offers Music courses in the heart of Austria ranging from History to Opera workshop and Vocal Literature. There is no language prerequisite to participate in the program. Students are strongly encouraged to acquire some conversational German skills prior to the trip.

The program in Salzburg will last four weeks. The courses offered by the Institute are designed to take optimal advantage of the cultural surroundings and events in Europe. There is no language prerequisite to participate in the program.

Students will have several opportunities to perform and will be selected by audition or at the discretion of the professor. Vocalists will also have an opportunity to sing in the Dom Chor at the invitation of the director.

Setting Description:

Salzburg is renowned as an international and historical music center. While Mozart's birthplace and residence are of particular interest, the city offers a wide range of historical places and cultural events. Salzburg shows evidence of Roman culture and of a dynamic medieval phase.
