Program Overview

Program Description:
The program offers courses in Advanced German Culture and Language specifically designed to explore the rich cultural heritage of Munich and the homestay with families in a neighboring village. Students must have at least twelve hours of college-level German or the equivalent to participate.

The Munich Program will last five and a half weeks. Classes are held on average four days a week, with most Fridays and weekends free for individual day trips, possible excursions with host families and longer independent travel to more distant German-speaking cultural focal points.

With this program students have the best of two different worlds--the comfort, security, and familiarity of small-town living as well as Munich with its numerous museums, theaters, and concert halls.
Setting Description:
The heart of Munich— with its the pedestrian mall around Marienplatz and the Viktualienmarkt and world-renowned museums, theaters, and concert halls— swirls with activity, yet one is never far from the tranquility of Munich's great park, the English Garden, or the relaxed atmosphere of the city’s many beer gardens. The individual homestay with a German family in a quaint Munich suburb provides students another taste of Bavarian life, a refreshing contrast to hustle and bustle of the city center.
