Volunteers coming for their Spring break will carry out an orientation on the Monday, work from Tuesday to Friday, then take a sightseeing trip on the Saturday before going home. This itinerary makes the most of the week, both for the projects and for your visit to Costa Rica.
Spring break is the best time of the year for volunteering, when the weather is at it's best, being warm and dry the children like to play outside, and extra help is needed to coordinate activities. Throughout the year we work with two centres that provide assistance to poor families, running various community initiatives including day care for their young children, support with their learning, a feeding programme and also housing for young teenage orphans. At the same time, refurbishment and improvements can be carried out on the buildings and the grounds, which again makes use of the dry season before it gets too hot. This time will be paramount to set the tone for the success of the project for the rest of the year.
- Setting Description:
- Costa Rica provides the perfect backdrop for your spring break. On evenings and weekends off you can explore and visit the famous Arenal Volcano and Baldi hot Springs before heading home. From the capital city, where the participants live you are within easy reach of beaches, volcanoes and forests of all kinds. Everything is accessible within 5 to 6 hours by public bus.
