Program Description:
Our department offers a 30-hour Master of Science degree in Mass Communications. The program requires a core of Mass Communication Theory and Research classes with flexibility for students to devise specialized scholarly or professional degrees by taking courses from one or more of the school's three sequences (advertising, journalism & digital media, and public relations) or graduate-level electives from other academic units within the university. For students who want to gain media experience while attending graduate school, the university provides several hands-on opportunities to work for student-run media including: the Collegian newspaper, its web counterpart (eCollegian), the Royal Purple Yearbook, the Wildcat 91.9 FM radio station and the Education Communications Center, a television production center.

For TOEFL scores less than 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based) or 100 (internet-based) an English proficiency test will be given at time of enrollment if admitted to the program. Students who do not pass this test will be referred to the English Language Program for English coursework.
