Dunedin, located on the South Island of New Zealand, is known for its Victorian and Edwardian architecture and incredible wildlife. Highlights include the steepest street in the world, beautiful botanic gardens, and a proud Scottish heritage. There are also ski resorts located two hours from Dunedin as well as great sports for hiking, mountain biking and surfing. Additional entertainment includes th Speights Brewery, Yellow Eyed Penguin Tours, the Albatross Colony, and the Cadbury World Chocolate Factory.
The University of Otago, established in 1869, is New Zealand’s oldest university. The university has a strong research emphasis, and many of its programs focus on nature-related sciences, including geology, marine science, ecology, botany, and zoology. Over 20,000 students attend the university, representing over 100 different countries across the globe.The University of Otago is renowned for its vibrant campus lifestyle. Almost all students live with walking distance of the main campus, and most students walk between their flats, campus, and the city center - which is just a few minutes' walk from the center of the campus.
