- Great Support & Variety of Classes07/09/19
I really enjoyed this MA program and would recommend it to anyone interested in teaching. The staff was very helpful with visa paperwork and responding to questions/concerns from the very beginning. I liked the variety of classes we studied for the MA
in Bilingual and Multicultural Education and had some very memorable professors. Advising and support is provided throughout the program and even after graduation. I’m now working in the US in the ESL field at the university level and am so grateful to the continuing support I’ve received from the UAH-IF administration. This MA is special because it gives you the opportunity to work, study, and live abroad in an incredible place!

Doing this master's program helped me realize I wanted to be a teacher because I got a lot of hands-on teaching experience during the program. It made me realize that I have a passion for teaching and it allowed me to develop my own personal teaching
style. Prior to the master's, I had very little classroom teaching experience, and this program gave me the experience I needed to become a successful teacher. Completing my Spanish Teaching Master's in Spain allowed me to really work on my Spanish because all of my classes were taught in Spanish and because I got to live in Spain and use Spanish daily. The fact that I completed my master's in Spain definitely helped me land interviews and a good teaching job in the US because employers are really impressed by it. I am currently teaching Spanish in one of the best school districts in my state, and during the interview process they said they were very impressed that I got my master's in a Spanish speaking country. Schools are looking for Spanish teachers who are fluent in Spanish and who have experience with Spanish culture they can bring to the classroom. They want open and flexible people, and these are characteristics that one gains from living abroad. Academically, I really pushed myself and learned a lot during my master's. My master's year was definitely challenging, but it was also very rewarding and made me realize my passion for education and the Spanish language, and how much I love teaching. In Massachusetts, all public school Spanish teachers have to get a master's degree eventually, so having mine done puts me ahead in my career. I was able to get the degree accredited and use it for my Massachusetts teaching license. Lastly, master's programs are very expensive in the US, and I completed mine for free since the program allows you to work your way through it. I definitely recommend this program to anyone who wants to become a Spanish teacher, or to teachers who want to advance their careers. If you apply yourself you will definitely benefit from completing this program.

The Master in Teaching program at Instituto Franklin-UAH provided practical and theoretical knowledge for teaching in an ESL classroom. The classes were insightful, and the professors were very knowledgable in their fields of bilingual and international
education. I especially enjoyed learning about comparative education systems. Developing communicative lessons for the classroom was another highlight of this program. The feedback from the professors and my classmates helped me to develop and improve my teaching skills. The Master in Teaching program helped me to reach my professional goals once back in the United States. This experience impressed employers, and it helped me to land my dream career of working with adult English Language Learners in Chicago.

Attending the Instituto Franklin during the 2015-2016 school year was the best educational decision I’ve made. To those students who are willing to embrace their studies, apply themselves, and work hard, you will be rewarded with incredible educational
and life experience. After graduation, I returned to the United States and was immediately hired as a high school English teacher. (Full disclosure: my undergraduate degree is in teaching with an English emphasis, hence applying for a teaching position.) The administrators who interviewed me were incredibly impressed with my time spent abroad, particularly with obtaining a Masters in Bilingual and Multicultural Education. After being hired they told me that was the biggest reason I was chosen over the other interviewees. The school district did not require my degree to be accredited but I do plan on having it accredited soon. I plan to update this review with more details regarding that process. If you have an opportunity to apply to this program, I wholeheartedly encourage it. Not only do I have unbelievably fond memories of that school year, but I am now in a better career because of it. Shout out to Iulia, Carlos, and all the other professors who helped me achieve my dream.

This program has grown since I participated in 2011. They now offer a wider range of more structured academic programs geared at education from an international prespective. This is the perfecto opportunity to live in Europe for a year (and have the
opportunity to extend your stay) and gain valuable cultural insite and new prespectives as well as network and make life-long friends. It is taught in one of the oldest universities in Spain by a professional and highly qualitied staff. The skills I learned have served me in every single job I´ve had after graduating and my degree (and all my friend´s ) was instantly recognized as equivalent to a master´s in the US. For anyone wanting to study a master´s and gain a global prespective on education, I recommend it without doublt. What you take away from it will always be with you.
