Program Overview

Program Description:
Study for a semester or summer in China's capital and second largest city, Beijing. Students enroll in Chinese language courses while taking a variety of other courses at the Minzu University of China and Peking University. Each term, IGE organizes several excursions around Beijing so that students have the opportunity to see all that the city offers. The excursions include: The Great Wall Forbidden City Summer Palace Marco Polo Bridge Xiyu Village 798 Art Village

During the fall and spring semesters, IGE partners with the Minzu University of China and Peking University in Beijing. Students take 9 credit hours of language at Minzu University and the program’s 3 credit core course, The Nationalities of China: A Country Comprised of 56 Ethnic Groups. Students also have the option to enroll in one or two additional courses in the evening at Peking University. The optional course subjects at Peking University include the following: Chinese Ethnic Studies Business & Economics International Relations Social Sciences Arts & Humanities During the summer, IGE offers students an 8 week long language intensive program. This program was designed to help students increase their vocabulary, written expressions, and most importantly oral proficiency.

Beijing is the capital of the People’s Republic of China and is the country’s educational, cultural, and political center. Located in the northern part o the country, Beijing is one of China’s Four Great Ancient Capitals. Travelers voyage from all around the world to visit Beijing’s city center, the Forbidden City. IGE’s Beijing program is designed to immerse students linguistically and culturally in China.
