- The programme is aimed at students from all countries, who want to experience living in Paris and learning about French history, culture and arts as well as the professional skills of the cultural management consultant, dealer or curator. Classes are small to allow interaction and discussion. Teaching is by professors from IESA, and leading art historians, dealers and professionals.
Each semester starts with a month-long induction of intensive French classes and introduction to French culture. After that, while continuing French language classes, students choose two additional specific options. There is choice ranging from history, art history, literature, or cinema. All these courses are taught in English. As part of each semester’s programme, there are excursions offered on the weekend: a day trip to Versailles or to Burgundy or Normandy for an overnight stay. There are also many evening excursions to the galleries and cultural events in Paris.
Duration: 1 semester in the autumn (Sept-Dec) or in the spring (Feb-May) Location: Paris Accreditation: 12-15 credits from the University of Jacksonville, FL at second or third year BA level for one semester; 30 European credits for Erasmus students.
- Setting Description:
- Based at the Institut d’Etudes Supérieures des Arts near the Louvre, students take part in courses with an international group of students and in the environment of a French college. Students will have a ‘buddy’ from the IESA undergraduate programmes to enrich their experience of living in France.
