Program Overview

Program Description:

Our program guarantees an internship placement to help you develop professional skills that will jump-start your résumé and make you more attractive to employers in today’s competitive job market. IES Internships' unpaid, academic internships place Rome students at local companies, while also showing students the sights and sounds of Italy.

An IES internship develops your professional skills, your ability to communicate across cultures, and provides substantive work experience to jump-start your career in today’s competitive job market. You'll be guaranteed an unpaid placement at a local business or organization, where you'll work for at least 25 hours a week. We will work with you to find the closest placement match between your professional and personal goals with what's available in Rome. You also will enroll in a required 1- or 6-credit academic internship seminar with other IES Interns, where you’ll learn about a variety of local business settings and opportunities.

IES Internships, a unit of IES Abroad, offers an exhilarating challenge of real-world experience combined with professional skill building and cultural immersion. Whether you want to spend eight weeks over the summer interning full-time in the field of your choice, or partake in a part-time internship as part of our study abroad program to supplement semester or summer coursework abroad, we have a program that will suit your needs.

Setting Description:
There’s no place like Rome. With its abundant architectural and artistic riches, Rome celebrates more than 2,500 years of history. Think about it: you will be enveloped in the Roman past—the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, St. Peter’s Basilica—while enjoying all of the modern-day cultural jewels that the city has to offer. Why wait a minute longer? Indulge in Rome’s splendor—and did we mention the food?—as soon as possible.
