Program Overview

Program Description:

As a major driver of the global economy with internship placements in finance, politics, the arts, and more, London is the perfect place for your semester-long internship abroad. With IES Internships, you are guaranteed an unpaid, for-credit, 14-week internship placement of 32-40 hours per week in a business or organization that suits your career goals. Build a global network of professional contacts and gain real-world experience all while exploring everything that London has to offer.

While in London, you’ll live with another IES Abroad student in an international student residence hall, well-located in central London. You’ll also enroll in our required 3-credit internship seminar where you’ll discuss cultural issues in the workplace. On the weekends, join IES Abroad-organized field trips that take you beyond the city to discover the culture and traditions of England. Imagine visiting Stonehenge, exploring the Roman baths in Bath, or riding a gondola down the river in Cambridge. All of this – and more – awaits you in London.

Founded in 1950, IES Abroad is a global, not-for-profit study abroad organization with 125+ academic programs in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Latin America. To learn more about what we offer visit our website.

Setting Description:
The Beatles said it best in their hit song “Blackbird”: “All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arise.” Now’s your time—intern abroad in the land of William Shakespeare, the Royal family, Sir Isaac Newton, and Harry Potter. Be inspired by everything around you, from the museums and art galleries to Buckingham Palace and Parliament. Even a simple walk around this culturally rich city or a ride on the Tube can inspire you in ways you’d never imagine.
