Program Overview

Program Description:

As the economic and cultural hub of the Iberian Peninsula with internship placements in commerce, media, fashion and more, Barcelona is the perfect place for a semester-long internship abroad! With IES Internships, you are guaranteed an unpaid, for-credit, 12-week internship of at least 30 hours per week in a business or organization that fits your career goals. Build a global network of professional contacts and gain real-world experience all while exploring everything that this bustling Spanish city has to offer.

While in Barcelona, you’ll live with two or three other IES Abroad students in homestays, where you’ll be provided two meals a day. You’ll also enroll in our required 3-credit internship seminar where you'll discuss cultural issues in the workplace. On the weekends, join IES Abroad-organized field trips that take you beyond the city to discover the culture and traditions of Spain. Imagine exploring the vibrant city of Granada, hiking Montserrat, and taking a cooking class in the Basque Country. All of this - and so much more - awaits you in Barcelona.

Founded in 1950, IES Abroad is a global, not-for-profit study abroad organization with 125+ academic programs in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Latin America. To learn more about what we offer visit our website.
