Program Description:

This program is based in Kunming/Yunnan while expanding to other cities as Guiyang/Guizhou or Shenzhen/Guangdong. What makes this program unique is that our participants will live with a Chinese family and study Chinese without paying any fees! In return, the main responsibility of our homestay students is to teach English to the family's children and to introduce their own culture to the family. Not more than 25 hours per week are expected to teach and play with the Chinese children. That is what our participants contribute to live with the family, to enjoy their food with them and to occasionally go travelling with them at no costs. Additionally, our Homestay students can also join Chinese language and culture classes for free in our school or one of our partner schools.

Setting Description:

Kunming is situated in the heart of Yunnan province. Sharing borders with Tibet, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar, Yunnan is one of the most central bases for tourism in South-East Asia. Because of its location, Kunming is one of the most attractive places for exploring Chinese culture. Yes, Beijing is the capital of China and yes, Shanghai is the business center of China, but if you want to find some more unique culture, customs and food, then staying with Homestay China in Kunming will be your best choice. Yunnan and Southwest China in general has a high concentration of Chinese minority cultures, all kinds of different food flavors and a wide variety of natural scenic spots.

Cost:

The program is free of charge, including family accommodation, travel insurance, Chinese language and cultural classes. The participant solely needs to cover the costs of the visa application and the flight tickets. A deposit of 250 USD has to be paid which will be paid back after finishing the program. Ticket reimbursement scheme (paid after finishing the program): 3-month program: 1250 RMB 6-month program: 2500 RMB 12-month program: 5000 RMB
