Program Overview

Program Description:
HFN has expanded its efforts to sponsoring the education of underprivileged children within the community and to offering a variety of volunteer programs that provide essential support to these communities. HFN gives volunteers the opportunity to become involved in social work that raises educational awareness, enhances the lives of villagers and improves educational development. We work in partnership with 6 other orphanages throughout Nepal where volunteers have the opportunityto change lives. Volunteering with HFN will help the lives of these orphaned children and will have a lasting impact on the local community. HFN has various programs that give volunteers the opportunity to work with children in the orphanage, street children, womens empowerment programs, community health (HIV/Aids awareness), , paid teaching jobs, Free volunteer program and English teaching directly in the Kathmandu Valley or in rural villages throughout Nepal. HFN also offers ministry opportunities, Church planting, youth missions work, and vocational bible school programs.

Volunteer in Nepal and support a child Welcome to the Himalayan Foundation Nepal (HFN). HFN is an officially registered non-government organization (Govt. Regd. No. 935) associated with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal (SWC Regd. No. 24693). In 2007 our organization began with The Living Orphanage child which started by offering food, support and shelter to 4 high-risk orphaned children in desperate circumstances, each child with a unique and tragic story. Today the orphanage in Kathmandu has grown to provide care, shelter, support and education for over 15 Orphanage children. We believe that all orphaned children in Nepal deserve a loving home with hope for the future.

HFN has a vision to increase its living space to provide love and care for up to 50 children who need a home. HFN also hopes to expand the number of sponsored Community Children to 100. To help achieve these ambitious goals we hope to involve many more volunteers and have plans to extend the volunteer facilities to ensure they are comfortable during their stay at HFN. We hope to meet the needs and requirements for all the children through fund-raising, donations of money and goods, and much prayer! HFN also hopes to attract more people to the cultural exchange and organic farming program, where volunteers are given the opportunity to learn about farming practices and techniques along with a complete immersion in Nepalese culture . We want to spread the love of Jesus Christ here in Nepal so we can give hope to the less fortunate.
Setting Description:
The Himalayan Foundation Nepal (HFN) began in 2007 with the establishment of its orphanage .At HFN we believe that each child deserves a loving home and a hope for the future. Therefore, we started to provide care, shelter, and education for children. The orphanage began with 4 children and has since grown to provide for 16 children from the ages of 4 to 16. HFN has grown to include a growing network of 6 orphanages in Nepal, and to provide sponsorship for local community poor children by funding their school fees and purchasing their books, equipment and uniforms. HFN has also established a volunteer program which provides volunteers with the opportunity to work in the Orphanage and in HFN's affiliated orphanages. Other programs involve teaching English in local schools and providing health and sanitation education in the community, as well as life-skills training for women and cultural exchange placements on farms in a variety of areas around Nepal. We work together to help the commu
