Program Description:

Designed for students who wish to pursue a course of biblical studies, focusing both on the Hebrew Scriptures themselves and on contemporary Biblical Scholarship. The program provides grounding in Biblical (as well as Modern) Hebrew and will enable students to specialize in one of two tracks: 1) The Bible: Cultural and Historical Context, and 2) The Bible and the Ancient Near East.

Setting Description:
From the hilltop of the Mount Scopus campus, the incredible panorama of Jerusalem unfolds. Medieval maps show Jerusalem as the heart of the world. Astonishingly, it remains there: the seam line where West meets East, the First World faces the Third World, and where Judaism, Christianity, and Islam meet.

Requirements:
Qualified students with a Bachelor's degree from accredited institutions of higher education are eligible for admission to the program. Admission is competitive and is based on transcripts and letters of recommendation. Students must have: -Minimum of 3.2 ("B") grade-point average or the equivalent -Relevant background in Bible studies -Biblical Hebrew: at least one year of Biblical Hebrew. Students lacking knowledge of Biblical Hebrew must attend the intensive elementary-level summer course offered at the RIS before commencing the program. -Modern Hebrew: be eligible to enroll in at least level Gimel ulpan at the beginning of their first year of study. Students who have minimal or no knowledge of Hebrew (levels Aleph-Bet) must attend the Summer Ulpan. -Students lacking knowledge of Biblical Hebrew must attend the intensive elementary-level Biblical Hebrew summer course offered in the language at the RIS before commencing the program. -Knowledge of English: Applicants are required to submit official TOEFL, IELTS, or Amir scores. -The minimum TOEFL score required is 573 on the paper-based test, 230 on the computer-based test and 89 on the internet-based test. -Minimum IELTS score is 7 -Minimum Amir score is 220
