Program Overview

Program Description:
This study abroad program, offered through Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, from July 9 - 20, 2012, includes three days in London, with class visits to the Houses of Parliament and the internationally acclaimed British Library and plenty of free time to explore the city on your own. You will then travel a short way to Cambridge, where you will spend one week in lectures at the historic Caius College, with free time for sightseeing in and around this beautiful and inspiring city. After celebrating the completion of your coursework, you will travel back to London to wither return to the U.S. or continue your adventure on your own. London is a great launching site for excursions throughout Great Britain and the European continent.

Throughout this course, you will learn these essential Common Law concepts and more: ? History and development of the English and American Legal Systems ? An extensive look at the similarities and differences between the English and American Legal Systems including “stare decisis,” the “Bill of Rights,” Parliament, and Congress. ? Future implications for the U.S. legal system ? Practice of court procedure through moot court trials in the different settings of The Court of Chancery and the District/Superior Court.

Coursework will be conducted in the prestigious and charming university town of Cambridge, England, with live lectures held on the Cambridge University campus.
