Program Description:

Studying abroad with Greenheart Travel’s high school program in Belgium will give you a chance to experience what it’s like to attend high school with your Belgian peers and gain a new perspective during your academic overseas adventure.

You will be placed in the South if you wish to learn French and in the North if you wish to learn Dutch. Wherever you live you will experience the Belgian culture, way of life, traditions, history & the school system.

Students spend a trimester, semester or academic year living with a host family, attending a local school high school, and experiencing day-to-day life in Belgium.


If you are going to the French speaking part of Belgium, you will arrive a few days prior to your program start date and will attend the Language & Culture Week. You will take French classes, visit cultural sites and discover a bit more of the Belgian culture. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to ease yourself into your time in Belgium.

Setting Description:
All high school students studying in Belgium will live with a local host family and attend a local high school where all classes are taught in the native language for a full cultural immersion experience.

Additional Program Information

To be eligible to apply, students must: -- Be between 15 and 18 years of age -- Be from the United States or Canada -- Possess a high school cumulative GPA of at least 2.75/4.0 -- Be in great mental* and physical health -- Have a genuine interest in becoming a part of your host family and community -- Be willing to study and learn Dutch for those in the northern region and French for those in the southern region
