Global Student Consultants (GSC) was founded in 2006 as the founders saw the importance of hands-on experience for personal growth, professional development, and a well-rounded academic career. Volunteering or interning abroad can be a great way to reflect on what is important to a person, professionally and personally. GSC understands that while some have two years to explore, others only have two weeks and strives to bring a meaningful experience to those with all lengths of time. Global Student Consultants - India (GSC-India) is dedicated to providing quality internship and volunteer experience to students and professionals from around the globe. With faculty and staff in the United States and various points in India, GSC strives to provide educational experiences around India that allow interns and volunteers to experience Indian culture from the inside-out while growing academically, professionally, and personally.

Setting Description:

Microfinance Interns will work at a local organic store in Dharmshala. This store was founded by a local entrepreneur and partners with local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to sell locally made organic and natural products. The store is the first of its kind in the Dharamshala area, selling locally made organic foods, cosmetics, pottery and handicrafts with profits directly benefiting local communities. Employment opportunities for women are also stressed. Interns will work within the store and will also carry out community outreach programs in local communities. Hospitality Management Interns will work directly with the head manager of a heritage hotel outside of Dharamshala. This hotel is run by the ITC group and was a former hunting lodge of the Kashmiri royal family. The property was converted into a resort in 1931.
