Program Overview
- Program Description:
- Global Learning Across Borders' Morocco semester program aims to deliver an intense panoply of cultural and geographic experiences over the course of three months. From "souq" (market) to Sahara, "medinas" (old preserved medieval cities) to Atlas Mountains, ocean to oases--we take in the natural beauty of the country, its rich history, and its varied inhabitants. Fes, Marrakech, Rabat, Tangier, Chefchaouen, Essaouira, and Casablanca are among the cities that will be visited and explored.
Courses in Moroccan Arabic, Moroccan Culture & Society, Introduction to Islam, Berber Culture, and Anthropology will give your daily rhythms meaning and context. Homestays with Moroccan families will allow you--and them--profound insights and understanding. And Independent Study Projects will allow you to research a segment of society/culture of particular interest, be it French, Islam/Sufism, Musical Traditions, Architecture, Moroccan cuisine, or artisanal traditions such as woodworking, tile-making, or pottery.
Intense cultural immersion in a traditional, Arab, and Islamic society that is accessible and welcoming to western travelers.

This is Morocco, a captivating and multifaceted country "rooted in Africa, watered by Islam and rustled by the winds of Europe" in the words of its late King Hassan II.
- Cost:
- $13,295, excluding international airfare.
