- Program Description:
Many international programs are available to ECE graduate students in order to broaden their personal, professional, and intellectual horizons. Students with international experience and an advanced degree possess business knowledge and often second language skills that are very attractive to prospective employers in both industry and academia. In addition, these students possess cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to adapt to new circumstances and deal constructively with differences.
Qualified students from China, the United States, and any other countries can pursue the master's degree in ECE from Georgia Tech in Shenzhen, China. Selected Georgia Tech graduate courses are taught by Georgia Tech faculty on rotational assignment to Shenzhen during the spring, summer, and fall semesters of each year. Currently enrolled Georgia Tech students can apply to switch campuses to Shenzhen during any semester for a study abroad experience. Georgia Tech-Shenzhen is located inside the Shenzhen High-Tech Industry Park with easy access to hundreds of companies. Assistance is available for students to pursue co-op or internship opportunities with multinational companies in China, following a semester of study at Georgia Tech-Shenzhen.
The GT-Shenzhen MS ECE program has a flexible format. Students who are admitted through the GT-Shenzhen campus must commit to spending the first two semesters of academic studies at GT-Shenzhen. The last semester can be spent at GT-Shenzhen, or GT-Atlanta, or GT-Lorraine in France. Students are encouraged to participate in internships under a GT graduate co-op arrangement. During the internship semester, students will be able to keep full-time student status at GT as well as maintain access to GT resources. GT-Shenzhen provides a framework for the students to mix-and-match academic, industrial, and study abroad experiences and still graduate in 1-2 years. GT-Shenzhen aims to develop the whole student, and will provide communication and leadership development opportunities for students.
It is anticipated that most new students will matriculate in the fall semester, although the program will enroll new students for all 3 semesters of the year – fall, spring, and summer.
