Program Description:

This course is an introduction to visual and performing arts management in the Netherlands and Belgium. Students will explore the rich historical and contemporary arts management traditions of two of the most culturally vibrant and dynamic countries in Europe. This course combines classroom sessions in Arlington, VA with an in-depth and immersive  experience in the Netherlands (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Eindhoven, Delft, Utrecht) and in Brussels, Belgium and the surrounding areas. Program activities will include exclusive guided tours, workshops, and meetings with top designers, executives, managers, cultural policy experts, educators, and artists which will provide a broad understanding of how these diverse and forward-thinking countries develop and foster the arts and design. With collaboration and creativity as foundational cultural values, the Netherlands and Belgium provide countless examples of cross-disciplinary and entrepreneurial approaches to arts management.
