Program Description:

This program runs every other year. The next application cycle will be Summer 2018.


This course provides an introduction to arts management concepts and issues in England & Ireland. Students will start in London and end in Dublin, engaging and exploring the rich historical and contemporary performing, visual and literary arts management traditions in two of the most culturally dynamic and diverse international cities in the world.

Through this exploration students will acquire an understanding and base of knowledge involving current challenges and opportunities in international arts management styles and applications in England and Ireland through an immersive experience and hands-on approach involving local and touring productions, small fringe companies, large world renown venues and historic spaces. Through this experience students will gain an historical and cultural understanding of the diverse organizational styles and opportunities that are available in the arts management arena in both countries and their continuing global impact on the performing, visual and literary arts throughout the world.

Seeking Credits for the Following:

  • AMGT 599: Special Topics in Arts Management (3 credits for graduate students, 6 credits for undergraduate students)

Eligibility

This program is open to all undergraduate and graduate students, including students who do not attend George Mason University and members of the general public who are 18 years of age or older.
