Program Description:
Immerse yourself in new subjects, get ahead on your required courses, and expand your horizons through travel courses in Switzerland. Franklin University Switzerland’s pre-university summer programs allow high school students to get a head start on their bachelor’s degrees by obtaining three transferable credits for an intensive summer course on global issues. Like all students at Franklin, participants in the program are introduced to each course topic in its international context and travel to various locations to get first-hand experience and gain a deeper understanding of topics covered in class.

Alpine Ecology Course:
Study and explore first-hand the various environments of the Swiss Alps along with their political, economic, and tourism systems. This three-credit course will introduce students to the ecological systems of environments found in the Swiss Alps. Following an interdisciplinary approach, the course will also explore the economic, political, and social aspects of the Swiss Alps. The course will offer several off-campus excursions to local points of interests including the lakes of Ritom and Cadagno in Val Piora, the river Brenno, and an alpine glacier.

The Business of International Organizations Course: Study and discuss the activities of International Organizations (IOs) in Switzerland, their goals and objectives, and the challenges to implement them. Switzerland is home to some of the most important international organizations in the world. This three credit course will introduce students to the theories and rationales for international organizations and the managerial challenges they face. The course also includes visits to nearby IOs, such as FIFA, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) or the European headquarters of the United Nations (UNOG).

Franklin University Switzerland (FUS) is an English language university located in Lugano, the Italian-speaking part of southern Switzerland. Founded in 1969, the university distinguishes itself for its innovative approach to liberal arts education, characterized by an emphasis on international exposure and experiential learning in a culturally diverse environment. FUS offers summer courses, BA and MS degrees in different disciplines, and is in the unique position of being accredited in both the US and the Swiss university system.
