Program Description:

Come learn about the history and traditions of African music while volunteering at schools teaching children music. Work along side the lead singer of Warriors from the East, Lwanda Magere Atake, and be apart of empowering youth through music and creative arts.

Come learn about the history and traditions of African music while volunteering at schools teaching children music. Work along side the lead singer of Warriors from the East, Lwanda Magere Atake, and be apart of empowering youth through music and creative arts. Also, help Lwanda create a Museum and learning center for Traditional African Instruments and Music.

You will stay at Focus In Africa hostel and will be assisting lead singer of Warriors from the East, Lwanda Magere Atake, to teach school children music. From Lwanda you will also be learning about the various traditional instruments of Africa and experience the modern fusion of east meets west music, also known as the Nile Blues. Accompany Lwanda to his weekly live performances and be embedded in the local music/dance scene in Arusha, Tanzania.

Setting Description:

Cost:

$250 US a week. (This includes room and board -breakfast and dinner- at our hostel. And the cost to support the ongoing activities of the music project).
