Program Overview

Program Description:
This unique program provides the opportunity to study in the fall and/or spring semesters at Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU), a premier university in China. The program is open only to students who apply for and receive a scholarship awarded by the Chinese government. See information about applying for these scholarships in the Eligibility section below.

Located in Tianjin, one of the most exciting cities in China, this program is designed for students who are interested in a longer, more immersive academic experience than a summer-term program allows. Program classes will be taught by professors of Tianjin Foreign Studies University who have been vetted and approved by the relevant departments at Florida State University. Students will be able to choose from a variety of Chinese language, culture, and literature courses. As with Florida State’s shorter summer program, the credits earned while participating in this program may count toward the Chinese major or minor as well as the Asian studies major at Florida State. This program is only available to students who have been selected by The Florida State University Modern Languages Department to receive the Chinese government scholarships to study at Tianjin Foreign Studies University in China. These scholarships subsidize the academic component of the FSU International Program, thus significantly reducing the program fee. These scholarships are not processed in the U.S., nor are they distributed through the FSU Office of Financial Aid. Please contact Dr. Aaron Lan for more information and to apply for a Chinese government scholarship.
