- Biggest waste of money in my life01/03/19
I was in Vancouver on exchange for 3 months with edutour, and the whole experience was garbage. I specifically chose to go to canada around the winter so i could participate in winter activities, however my host guardian would not let me do ANYTHING.
she wouldn’t even let me go snowshoeing. All of the other exchange students i came with were allowed to go skiing, but for some reason i was denied. i have no health issues that would prevent me from doing so, so i was cramped up in my host parents house for 3 straight months. I was really not enjoying myself at this point, and so when i tried to talk to someone about how i was feeling, Edutour threatened me with a probation and said if i don’t improve my ‘attitude’ i would be sent home. Another girl i came with was yelled at by the host guardian because she felt the exact same way, and was also put on probation. I think Edutour are scared of getting bad reviews so they try to shut up anyone who speaks out against them. I also noticed that me and all of the kids that i came with were specifically sent to strict, strict private schools. none of us were religious and were all very uncomfortable the whole time. i was forced to participate in religious activities after i had said i was not comfortable with doing so. It’s obvious Edutour is staffed with primarily religious people. Which is fine, but it would be nice if there was an OPTION as to which school we could attend. Overall, Edutour were terrible, terrible hosts. I worked for 2 years to save up for this trip and my parents saved up what they could for it too, and i am so utterly disappointed in Edutour for wasting my time and money. I really couldn’t recommend Edutour any less.read moreBottom Line:No, I would not recommend this to a friend
