Program Description:
EcuaExplora, one of the leading volunteer organizations in Ecuador, has joined forces with educators, farmers and citizens to give volunteers an experience worth remembering. Through expanding education and citizen action movement in Ecuadors Eco-City of Bahia, teachers and volunteers are sharing a curriculum that focuses on sustainable farming and lifestyles, conservation, and recycling with the hope that the next generation will bring the knowledge home to help change the current environmentally and economically destructive practices of their parents.

This project is based in the sandy peninsula on the country's western coast at the mouth of the Río Chone. The City of Bahia provides excellent opportunities for volunteers to immerse themselves in the local culture. Volunteers will be housed with one of the carefully screened homestay families, be given Spanish lessons, and will get to explore beautiful Ecuador through adventure and cultural excursions. EcuaExplora also provides outstanding on-site staff support. 1. This program is ideal for those who want to expand their experience in teaching and in environmental preservation while learning about a different culture. 2. Participants can volunteer for one week to one year and placements are offered year-round 3. Optional one on one Spanish classes can be arranged at $6 an hour 4. Volunteers will get to practice their conversational Spanish with their host families and be provided with three vegetarian meals per day prepared from local gardens.

Airport pickup, homestay accommodations with two meals/day, health/safety/cultural orientation, program supervision, and 24 hour staff support. Fees do not include airfare, insurance, any VISA fees. And optional one on one Spanish classes can be arranged for an extra fee.
