Program Description:

EPI offers 9-day experiential education field programs that focus on science education, conservation, and intercultural exchange. This amazing opportunity allows students to assist with a sea turtle monitoring project, and be an active collaborator in international sea turtle conservation efforts. Participants collaborate with professional researchers conducting on-going research projects with conservation ramifications. In addition to collecting important data, students explore unique, and sometimes threatened, ecosystems in an effort to learn more about them and how best to protect them at home and abroad. Through this interactive course, students are taught that every individual can make a positive difference in the world.

Sea turtle biology; coastal and rainforest ecology; conservation biology; data collection and project design; exchange with local participants; beach exploration; hiking; whitewater rafting; restoration projects and much more!

On EPI's Costa Rica Sea Turtle Ecology Program, students become active participants in conservation and learn that they can make a difference. You will gain hands-on field monitoring experience and contribute to the preservation of one of the world's most incredible critically endangered marine species, the leatherback sea turtle!

Setting Description:

Secluded research beach on Costa Rica's east coast. Participants stay in dormitory-style bunkhouses for the first half of the program, second half is in eco-lodges and hotels.
