Program Description:

Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) is a public tertiary education institution which has two campuses; one in Napier city and a second in Gisborne. Both locations are in the Hawkes Bay region on the East coast of New Zealand’s North Island. Four academic Faculties offer a wide range of study options at Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate Degree, Graduate Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma levels. Specialized academic programmes include: Wine Science, Viticulture, Beauty and Body Therapy, Tourism and Travel. These are practical courses underpinned by academic theory and which provide our students with the right qualifications and skills to get a job in their chosen career area. In 2012 over 9000 students studied at EIT including 440 International students from 35 different countries.

In addition to our academic programmes, we have an excellent English Language Centre. Our English Language Centre offers students General English courses from beginners to Advanced levels and English for Academic Purposes courses for students looking to go on to further academic study. We can also run short courses for groups of students which can be developed to meet our partner’s needs.

EIT programmes combine practical skills with a sound theory base. Academic staff at EIT are highly qualified with real-world experience and teaching skills. The student-lecturer ratio is significantly lower than at a university. This allows a more personal approach and direct access to lecturers. We seek out those who teach because they love it. Setting Description:

Hawke's Bay offers an excellent lifestyle and plenty of sunshine, with a variety of restaurants, cafés and wine trails. The choice of entertainment options is extensive, with plenty of outdoor adventure activities available. Hawke's Bay offers stress-free commuting; congestion on the roads is virtually unheard of and the drive between Napier and Hastings is only around 20 minutes. Studying at EIT also means that accommodation and travel costs are lower compared with other provincial areas.
