Program Description:
Internships seek out EIU graduate students. Our students exceed both the State and National Averages for the National Praxis Exam. Our pass rate on first attempts is 100% since 2008. Employment Rates of Graduates within 3 Months of Graduation have been 100% since 2007. Our student clinicians have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients in our Clinic. Not only do we see both adult and child clients but the Clinic provides experiences in the following areas: aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia, feeding, articulation, phonology, autism, Asperger’s, aural rehab, language. Graduate Assistantships available.

Accreditation:
The Certificate of Clinical Competence of the Council on Accademic Accreditation is the professional accreditation for speech-language pathologists and audiologists that is recognized in every state. The program of Communication Disorders and Sciences at EIU is accredited in the area of speech-language pathology by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Upon completion of the master's degree and nine months of supervised professional experience, individuals are eligible for the Certificate of Clinical Competence required for practice in most work settings. The program was first accredited by ASHA in 1970 and has remained continuously accredited since that time. The most recent reaccreditation visit was in 2009 and the program was re-accredited until 2016.
