Johns Hopkins University presents the Hopkins China STEM Program, a summer language immersion program in specialized Chinese for medicine and engineering. Building upon well-established partnerships in Nanjing and expertise in a variety of technical disciplines, the China STEM Program addresses the increasing demand for advanced Chinese language education in the field of health sciences, technology, medicine and engineering.

Building upon well-established partnerships in Nanjing and expertise in a variety of technical disciplines, the China STEM Program addresses the increasing demand for advanced Chinese language education in the field of health sciences, technology, medicine and engineering.

College and professional school graduates with language training in specialized areas will enter today’s transnational job market with a competitive advantage. Hopkins China-STEM offers an innovative curriculum that meets the needs of current and future engineering and health professionals. The 8-week curriculum combines original teaching materials designed in consultation with expert textbook author Chou Chih-p’ing, tutorials to fast-track students’ ability to read journal articles in their field of expertise, research seminars with Chinese scientists, and site visits.
Setting Description:
Students will spend the first six weeks at the state of the art Hopkins-Nanjing Center. They will then move to Tsinghua University for two additional weeks of language training and site visits to scientific institutions in China’s rapidly changing capital.
Cost:
Tuition for the program is $6,200. This covers housing for the duration of the program and all local excursions, but does not include international airfare. Admitted students must submit a non-refundable deposit of $500 by May 1, and full tuition is due by May 15.
