Program Overview

Program Description:

This 2016 three-week program (May 28-June 18, 2016) based at the University of Cologne, Germany includes classes in European Public Law, a Workshop in Corporate Governance and European Intellectual Property, totaling 4.5 hours of ABA-approved credit, with optional externships earning an additional 1.5 ABA approved credit hours.

Classes meet 9:30 to 1:30 Tuesdays through Fridays,and Mondays from 12:30 to 5:30 to maximize the free time of the students’ weekends. In Cologne, classes meet at the Institute for American Law on the campus of the University of Cologne. Externships are available earning an additional 1.5 ABA approved credit hours.

Two to six week externships are available to students who successfully complete the three week course. Externships may include law firms, industry, government, or judicial chambers, earning an additional 1.5 ABA approved credit hours.

Setting Description:
In addition to classroom program, time is spent in Paris and Brussels, including the following excursions; a Rhine River cruise, the birth house museum of Beethoven in Bonn, a guided tour of the Augustusburg Palace at Brühl and visits to the local courts and city hall. In Brussels, students visit the European Union Government and the residence of the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium. Housing includes breakfast in all three cities, in private, double, hostel rooms.
Cost:
The three-week program cost is $4,200. The cost includes a $250 application fee, tuition, housing & breakfast. Fees cover teaching materials, tuition, housing, and various dinners and receptions.
