Every semester students from China, the US and around the world live and study at Duke Kunshan University, a Duke joint venture institution located in Kunshan, Jiangsu province, China – not far from Shanghai. The language of instruction is English. Duke Kunshan students also enjoy access to extensive online resources from the Duke University Libraries. Each semester is divided into two 7-week sessions, and students have the option to select four intensive for-credit classes per semester. Students successfully completing the program will receive Duke University course credit that can be transferred to other degree-granting institutions.
The Duke Kunshan Global Learning Semester Program features courses from a variety of disciplines focused on Global Health, the Environment, and China Studies. Classes are small and foster interactive exchanges among faculty and students from around the world. Outside of the classroom students engage in numerous co-curricular activities designed to deepen the experience of Chinese culture, develop camaraderie, build confidence, and elicit creativity. Students are encouraged to make a difference – both inside and outside of the classroom.

- The Duke Kunshan University campus provides a rich learning environment with undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, researchers, and administrators from all over the world. All Duke Kunshan students live on campus in a modern residence building that features suites of four single bedrooms and a common living space. Active Student Life on campus keeps students engaged outside of the classroom. The on-campus conference center hosts stimulating lectures and special events. A regular shuttle bus service runs between campus and the city of Kunshan giving students easy access to off-campus dining, the train station, and local shopping. Moreover, the city of Kunshan is well-situated for day trips to Shanghai, Suzhou and provides high-speed train access to destinations throughout China. Duke Kunshan Global Learning Semester students will emerge from this experience as international citizens with broad international perspectives and deep China insights.
