Program Overview
- Program Description:
Costa Rica is a worldwide leader in ecotourism, recognized for its rich biodiversity--but it's also well known for its warm and welcoming people who live by pura vida. Directly translated to English, pura vida means "pure life," but depending on the context, pura vida can mean "Hello," "Everything's good," or "This is living!"
Volunteer with Cross-Cultural Solutions and you'll experience not only the great things Costa Rica is famous for, but also a side that you never knew existed. By connecting with the local staff and serving others, you'll experience Costa Rica not as a tourist, but more as a member of the community.
For two decades, CCS volunteers have traveled around the world to work on sustainable service projects. Volunteer in Costa Rica to help improve education for local children, assist with the care of children, support those aging with dignity, assist children or adults with disabilities, or support individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
- Setting Description:
- In addition to being famous for its lush rainforests, beautiful beaches, and a progressive mentality, Costa Rica is known throughout the world as a pillar of stability in Latin America. As a volunteer, you will have the chance to immerse yourself in a unique and vibrant culture that provides an ideal environment for fostering cultural understanding and working with the local community.
