Come discover the port city of Valparaiso and improve your Spanish language skills while immersing yourself Chilean culture. Through intensive language training and area studies coursework offered in English, you’ll develop greater insight into Chile and Latin America through history, literature, economics, and international relations. You’ll live with a local family, take Spanish language classes, and have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to explore Chile as the locals do. Study abroad in Valparaiso and you’ll: Acquire an understanding of Chile and its role in Latin America through courses that are focused on contemporary Chilean culture and society Build your beginner Spanish skills while living with a local host family Study at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, which is ranked among the top regional universities in Chile Participate in community service projects and educational field trips in Valparaiso, Curarehue, and Pucón.
AACSB and EQUIS Accreditation
Liberal Arts program-related eligibility requirement: 4 semesters of Spanish language study (or equivalent). Both Liberal Arts and Language in Context students may enroll in business classes offered in at the Universidad Adolfo Ibañez (UAI) or CIEE (Liberal Arts students must take all classes in Spanish; Language in Context students typically take content classes in English). Students on both programs must also take a language class in addition to content courses offered by CIEE or any of the three host institutions available to the programs. CIEE-administered classes are not reported on the UAI (nor other host institution) transcripts.
