Program Overview
- Program Description:
From the premier Prado Museum to tapas at lively San Miguel Market, you’ll discover Madrid’s many treasures while you immerse yourself in the Open Campus program. Take one, two, or three six-week blocks for your perfect amount of intensive study and cultural engagement, select your academic track from six options, then choose your courses from a wide range of subject areas. No matter what you choose, you’ll surround yourself with the language, culture, and people in this dynamic city.
Stay in Madrid for the duration of this unique study abroad experience, or add on blocks in other CIEE Open Campus locations (London, Rome, Paris, Berlin, and Cape Town) to experience more intercultural learning with CIEE’s unique Global Scholar program. Students enroll in one, two, or three six-week blocks, taking two courses during each block and can select one of six academic tracks: Business; Communications, Journalism & New Media; Global & Community Health; International Relations & Political Science; Language, Literature & Culture; or Sustainability and Environmental Sciences.
This program gives students unique flexibility to stay in Madrid for all or part of their time abroad, or add study at other CIEE Global Institutes to further broaden their view of the world.
Classes are held at the CIEE Global Institute, near the Puerta de Sol. The Institute includes classrooms, a lounge, Wi-Fi, and experienced staff that support day-to-day life in Madrid. Most courses are taught in English by CIEE faculty.
Our strong relationships with Madrid’s most-respected universities and research institutions allows us to offer top-quality courses, taught by local faculty. A core group of CIEE faculty members serve as professors and work with CIEE resident staff to arrange guest lectures, excursions, activities, and more.
