CIEE High School Summer Abroad in Khon Kaen, Thailand – Human Rights & Environmental Policy
Khon Kaen, Thailand
Program Type:
Study Abroad
Degree Level:
High School

Program Overview

Program Description:

Teach children the importance of environmental protection while expanding their English language skills.

While often considered the poorest and most rural region of the country, Khon Kaen is changing rapidly due to large-scale development projects, ranging from hydroelectric dams to mining to forest harvesting. With development comes air and water pollution, as well as the potential for long-lasting effects on the health of people and the environment itself. Protection from such hazards – and access to clean air and water – can be framed as a matter of human rights.

Enjoy forming friendships with roommates, and joining in fun program-sponsored cultural activities. Chat with villagers to get their take on how development influences human rights and the environment. Your stay culminates with an unforgettable two-day Environmental English Camp, where students and villagers put into action the lessons you helped create.

Please see our website for tuition information.
