- Program Type:
- Study Abroad
- Degree Level:
- Gap Year
- Fall Semester, Spring Semester
- Program Description:
Work and explore in one of the world’s most multicultural cities.
Experience daily life in one of the world’s most dynamic and diverse multicultural centers. Living and working in the shadow of the iconic CN Tower, you’ll speak English with new friends and colleagues while immersing yourself in an atmosphere of distinctively Canadian culture, politics, and charm.
As a CIEE Global Intern, you’ll work in a non-paying position with a leading organization, diving into a field of interest, navigating cultural differences between Canada and the United States and expanding your professional portfolio and network. In addition to interning three days a week, you’ll spend 10 hours a week with peers in a valuable professional development course. The rest of your time is for organized cultural activities, exploring the city with friends, or hanging out in comfort in your dorm room.
Toronto is consistently ranked as one of the world’s “most livable” cities, and there’s lots to see and do. Catch a Toronto Blue Jays baseball game, visit the Hockey Hall of Fame, view world-class exhibits at the Royal Ontario Museum or Art Gallery of Ontario, or check out any of the dozens of street festivals that take place year-round.
Budget-friendly eateries all over the city serve up every kind of food you can imagine: from burritos, burgers and bánh mì, to gyros and grilled cheese, and to Jamaican jerk chicken. But be sure to eat your share of poutine, Canada’s national comfort food. Shops (poutineries) specializing in the gooey, gravy-covered fries can be found all over town!
*You can create a duo program by combining any two CIEE Gap Year Abroad semesters and get 10% off the second semester.
