Class Formation
KLSI students will be placed into their appropriate class in accordance with his/her Korean ability.
Each class has around 12 students. For level 1, the sections will be divided by their nationality and gender, and from level 2, the class

Program Overview
- Program Description:
- The Korean Language Program offers four ten-week quarters each year. Classes meet five days a week,
from Monday to Friday, for four hours a day.
And classes are given at six levels of proficiency with an average of twelve students per class. Students
entering into the Program are placed in the Beginner(?-?), Intermediate(?-?), Advanced(?-?) levels
according to their communicative ability.
The emphasis is on developing an ability to communicate in Korean through dialogues, discussions, various reading, and writing exercises. Students will also learn Korean culture through songs, watching video,
and reading Korean newspapers.

Attendance Students are required to attend at least 160 hours out of the 200 class hours of a term. (3 lates are considered as 1 absence) Students who miss more than 40 hours a term will automatically fail. Level Advancement A certificate is awarded to those who successfully complete the program (70 as a final grade). A final evaluation report indicating the student's class level and progress is also issued. To extend the visa period, submission of the final evaluation report is occasionally requested. Those with attendance lower than 80% of the total course hours cannot register for the following session. (100%= mid test 35%, final test 45%, assignment 5%, attendance 10%, Participation 5%)

- Setting Description:
- Academic Record All academic records including attendance rates and grades on listening, speaking, reading, and writing will be admitted to the individual students. (If a student wants a transcript for the Immigration Office, he/she should ask KLSI to issue it.) (Credits earned from KLSI are not approved as regular university units.) Co-curricular Activities There are various co-curricular activities in the courses. Also, in order to boost interests in Korea and it cultures,various cultural classes, such as observational program and certificate ceremonies are held in every semester. * Club activities: singing class, Seoul city tour, cultural experience class * Excursion: ancient palaces, art galleries, museums, folk village, traditional Korean houses village, Lotte World, Mt. Seorak, Everland and etc. * Cultural classes: Making of Kimchi, observation of various performances * Certification : Various contests such as drama, speech and singing
