Program Overview

Program Description:
A 36 unit program that can be completed in two years full-time, or three years part-time, the MFA program fosters the growth of fiction writers and poets through workshops, techniques courses, literature courses and various department events. While students can specialize in literary fiction, poetry, or both, studies in screenwriting and playwriting are also included. The MFA culminates in the completion of a novel, a collection of poetry, or a collection of short fiction. Graduates of the MFA go on to professional careers in writing and editing, and teach at two and four year colleges.
