Health information technologists perform medical office management duties in physicians’ offices, hospitals and other medical facilities. They often practice medical transcription, front office and customer service tasks. Additionally, they have a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology. At CCNN, you’ll learn the primary functions of a successful heath information technologist, which include:
Working with patients’ medical records, and overseeing a health facility’s insurance billing and coding processes
Employing knowledge of medical terminology, pathophysiology and anatomy and physiology to assist doctors and nurses with their daily tasks
Operating computers and tablets to run spreadsheets, word processing systems and accounting software programs

Within the program, you’ll take 101.5 credit hours of Health Information Management coursework, including:
Health Information Management
Anatomy and Physiology I
Pathology in Coding
Hospital Billing and Coding
Additionally, you will benefit from real-world work experience by completing 120 hours in a Health Information Management externship.
