Program Description:

There’s no better way to learn about medicine in a global context than in one of the most populous countries in the world. Begin your adventure getting to know Mumbai and some of its amazing landmarks. Travel by rail to Aurangabad where you’ll observe ancient Buddhist cave art and the Adjanta and Ellora caves. Next, prepare for two weeks of immersive medical experience with a local nonprofit, helping teach health education topics and getting face to face time with patients. Take a break from your medical studies to visit the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve and take a ride down the river on a bamboo raft and try and spot the elusive white tiger. Finish off the program learning the fundamentals of yoga and traveling to Kerala to study Ayurveda, India’s traditional system of Hindu healing.

Setting Description:
Discover the city of Mumbai as you tour the Kamla Nehru Park and the Hanging Gardens. Explore the Adjanta and Ellors caves in Aurangabad, seeing ancient Buddhist cave drawings. Make your home at Kodaikanal, also known as “The Gift of the Forest” and volunteer at a local nonprofit. Watch for tigers and elephants in the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve. Stay at an ecological farm to learn yoga before traveling to Kerala to study Ayurveda.
