Get familiar with your vessel as you practice knot tying, tacking and jibing before raising the sail and setting off on this adventure. Spend your days learning how to navigate and make preparations for a sea voyage. Spend your afternoons wakeboarding and discovering what lies underneath the waves as you snorkel with sea turtles and playful dolphins.
Go ashore on the Leeward Islands to hike to the top of an uninhabited island. Relax on white sand beaches and explore laid back, Caribbean coastal towns, searching for the perfect souvenir to bring home that will remind you of your time in the sun. Along the course from island to island, earn multiple sailing certifications with your new skills, discover your sea legs and passion for sailing in these welcoming waves while giving back to the communities that inspire you along the way. Get hands on as you participate in a beach clean up before sailing off into the setting sun, eagerly awaiting tomorrow's adventure.

- Memories That Will Last A Lifetime: The Summer I Decided To Take A Chance On A New Adventure02/21/18
Unlike previous summers, this year I decided that instead of being a lazy couch potato who sat around all day eating junk food and watching tv, I wanted to take an adventure of a lifetime. So, I signed up as a crew member for a 12 day sailing program
in the Caribbean with an organization named Broadreach. Upon arrival in St. Martin the 12 crew members, ranging from ages 12-14, and our skipper and first mate, boarded our new home a 50 ft. monohull named Arwen. As we prepared the boat for our first long sail of the program I received a call from my parents. I was informed that my grandmother had just passed away, my grandmother was a dedicated sailor and the inspiration for my trip. I decided that I wanted to continue with my trip because I knew in my heart that was what she would have wanted me to do. Even though I spent those 6 hours underway bawling my eyes out, I really believe the sail was the best way to say goodbye to my grandmother. Sharing emotional moments with my fellow crew really helped us bond and become a family. Over the course of the 12 days, I had the greatest adventures of my life. We hiked into a dormant volcano, witnessed many shooting stars, saw a rainbow a day, completed multiple hours of community service, endured the struggles of boat life, and sailed 150 nautical miles. Starting in St. Martin, we sailed first to St. Barths than to St. Kitts, from there we made our way the island of St. Eustatius (Statia) and lastly ended up back in St. Martin. My personal favorite sail, and also our longest, was the 10 hours we spent underway form Statia to St. Martin. This sail is where I discovered my new favorite color. When a waves reaches around 10-15 ft it starts to curl, right underneath the white curl the second before the wave crashes you can spot the most beautiful blue. Through my trip this summer I learned many leadership, interpersonal, and communications skills. Our wonderful captain and first mate taught us every tip and trick we needed to crew a boat for ourselves and in the end we earned our International Yacht Certificate with allows us to crew big boats! Although I went in knowing no-one, Broadreach is such a loving, supportive, and inclusive environment that I came out with some of the best friends I have. The memories we made together get me trough stressful and rough patches and in a heartbeat I would give anything to get right back on Arwen and sleep though countless rainstorms, on the deck of a boat, under the beautiful Caribbean stars! I would encrourage anyone to go on this trip, even if you get homesick or are scared of boasts, because trust me by the end the people will be your family and the boat will be your home. It really was an experience that will stay with me forever.read moreBottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
- Most amazing trip of my life01/11/18
This trip truly changed my life! The places we went were so amazing and I loved getting to meet and become close with so many new people. Living on the boat with 12 people that I had never met before was one of the most fun things I have ever experienced.
Every thing that I got to try and experience ended up being so memorable and rewarding. The motivation and eagerness to do as much as possible and try as many new things as we could made the whole trip that much more fun. Although everyone on the trip was coming from different parts of the world, we all connected and got to learn so much about other people’s lives. Leaving this program, I had so much more confidence and motivation to do amazing things while also having so many new best friends and some cool sailing certifications too!read moreBottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
